Cupping on CBS
Many acupuncturists use a therapeutic modality called cupping. In theory cupping is used to remove old stagnant blood from an area and bring in fresh new blood to improve circulation and healing. It's often used for various pain conditions, but can also be used for menstrual and digestive problems AND the acute stages of cold, flu, or allergies. Many of our patients have had cupping done, but have never seen it. In 2004, Michael Gaeta, President of the Acupuncture Society of New York, shows and explains the process of cupping to CBS Early Show co-host Harry Smith.
